Meet the youngsters behind Thorley's new subway artworks

Three subways in Bishop's Stortford transformed into art galleries were officially opened this afternoon (Tuesday, February 7). Young artists from schools in and around Thorley, whose work is featured on the walls, were among the crowd who turned out for the ribbon cutting by Councillor Colin Woodward.


 

Windhill21 king of Birchwood Sports Partnership courts

Birchwood Sports Partnership hosted their largest U11 Basketball competition to date with more than 150 year 5 and 6 pupils taking part. The youngsters came from 17 surrounding primary schools to attend the Level Two School Games event, with 25 Birchwood High School pupils acting as leaders on the day.

   

Teachers help 'shape the future' of primary school education at conference in Stortford

WORKING together is the key to shaping the future of primary school education, say headteachers at schools in and around Bishop's Stortford. Speaking at the Catalyst Primary Conference, held at the town's Windhill Churches Centre, Philippa Moore, head of Windhill21 and Liz Stockley, head of Little Hadham Primary, expressed the need for all primaries to "work together to share their expertise and drive up standards".

   

Visit to town superstore brings healthy breakfast

A GROUP of children from Windhill21 were invited to Marks & Spencer in Bishop's Stortford for a big breakfast event. Not only were the youngsters encouraged to think about what makes a healthy diet, they also got a sneak peek of life in the South Street department store before customers arrive.

Birchwood's pioneering maths project builds on its success

A ground breaking maths initiative has gone from strength to strength at Birchwood High in Bishop's Stortford. The school introduced its popular accelerated maths programme for primary school pupils in September 2014 - and schools across the area are wanting their children to take part.

 


Gold award for Stortford's Windhill21

WINDHILL21 in Bishop's Stortford has been presented with the Primary Science Quality Mark's Gold Award for its science provision. PSQM congratulated the school on its "innovative, inspiring and incredibly proactive approach to science". It said: "The children enjoy a very enriched experience of the subject.

 

Manor Fields triumph and Windhill21 shine at BSP cricket event

More than 120 Year 5 and 6 pupils from 12 primary schools showed off their abilities at the Birchwood Sports Partnership Level 2 School Games Kwik Cricket Competition. The competition was hosted in glorious sunshine at Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club.

AT Windhill21 Primary School in Bishop's Stortford, pupils went cookery mad to improve their culinary, maths, teamwork and business skills. They have been measuring and scaling up ingredients and marketing their creations, evaluating how much profit they could make taking into consideration a reasonable selling price.
