Traditional tales were the order of the World Book Day at Windhill School. Proceedings kicked off with an assembly where Mrs Moore (dressed as a postman) shared the Jolly Postman story with the whole school. Each class were given a letter to take back to their classes with instructions about the traditional story they would be studying, many of which had a creative twist to them. Drama activities gave rise to writing a letter for the Jolly Postman book. Characters from woodcutters to wolves, pigs to princesses were enchanting the Windhill classrooms. A great day was had by everyone and the love of reading and writing was developed throughout the school.

Tom and Mike set themselves an extremely difficult challenge to row 3,000 miles from the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean. The children had the opportunity to share their adventure in the immersion room, which excitingly displayed their experiences on video as they travelled across the ocean. This included looking at maps, watching magnificent sea creatures (whales, dolphins and marlin fish), and admiring shooting stars. The children also learned about the perils of the sea and enjoyed watching their victorious celebration completed in 41 days!
