Windhill21 Pupils Make Poetic Waves in Performance Poetry Slam!
On Thursday, June 27th, Windhill21 celebrated their love of performance poetry by hosting a KS2 poetry slam at the South Mill Arts Centre.
A total of 240 children took to the stage, each class showcasing a variety of styles and interpretations. Performances included classics like "If" by Rudyard Kipling and "The Watchers" by Joel Coelho, which were enjoyed by all in attendance. Sarah Wood, Head of School and organiser of poetry competitions within the school and across Bishops Stortford, remarked, "Oracy is one of our Curriculum Drivers and is woven throughout our curriculum. Connecting the love of poetry with oracy and giving our pupils the opportunity to perform on stage with lights and music not only develops their confidence but creates a lasting memory for them."
Special guest Kimba, the rap poet, also joined the event, and as usual, the teachers performed a show case finale at the end of the event!
